Top speed GTX IS 215?
2011 GTX IS 215 ski with 3 hours. Top speed so far is 58 with single rider. Seem a little slow? Will speed improve after break in?

i believe top speed listed in manufacturer specs is around 5 mph faster. however, this speeds are recorded at "ideal conditions" which takes into account air temp, water temp, wave conditions and many other things. You may try adjusting the vts a little while running at top speed.B.t.w., think you will find the S3 hull desgn very impressive in rougher waters compared to previous models.

Thank You!! Have not been able to get anyone to give me an answer on what 'could' be. I tried VTS all the way up. Did not seem to make Any diffence, which surprised me a little. Since I'm still in 'break-in', I have held full throttle only long enough to see the speed stay steady. Of cousre here in SW Florida, both air and water temps are pretty warm, 89-91. Any idea how much difference cooler temps would make? Having spent this much $ for a 'recreational' vehicle, I just want to make sure I'm getting what I paid for. Any other suggestions would be very much appreciated.

That seems a little low, although I havent logged many hours on a gxt is. i am more familiar with the rxt is. Lowering the suspension all the way will reduce drag in smoother conditions, but in rougher water, raising the suspension may improve top speed.

something isn't right
Hi, I own a 2009 RXT255 iS, The top speed is 68-69 MPH, turning about 7800-8000 rpms. I also own a 2008 GTX 215 which runs out at 67-68 mph at 7900-8000 rpms. You are leaving at least 8 mph and 1000 rpms on the table. I would run the snot out of it and see if the problem goes away. I ran all of my skis like that and they all run where they should. My 2006 RXT with mega mods runs perfectly at 8500 rpms and 76 mph. Your ski should run faster than it is with the S-3 hull because it is stepped, but it is heavier with the suspension. So in the mid 60's and at least 7900 rpms is where you should be. A GTX 155 is faster than what your showing. Thats what your warranty is for, so run that thing.

Most definitly speedos are off by as much as 10%. My RXT is so fast it broke off the speed wheel pick up on the rear of my ski. Just wiped everything out, just a bracket where it used to be. I use a handheld GPS to measure speed my 2006 RXT with crazy mods starting with a RIVA STAGE III kit will run out at 76-77 mph on GPS.
