GTX 951 MPEM Gone?
I have been having some trouble narrowing down a start problem with a 1999 GTX that I hope you pros can help we with.
History:
Purchase a few months ago a 1999 GTX with the 951 silver engine with bad clyinder. PO said the engine ingested water. Cylinders and pistons were toast. So I've got a new set of cylinder in along with the top end all rebuilt. Havent finished hooking out carbs or exhaust yet, but wanted to be sure I had power/spark before I buttoned it all up.
Put new charged battery in and noticed a small spark when I connected terminals. The Info center came on and showed all info such as time, temp hours(47.8) etc... Lanyard was off. I put the lanyard on the dess post and nothing was heard. Pushed start and nothing.
Here is what I've have done so far:
Checked all fuses on Mpem and rear electrical box. Check continuity of the grounds and function of the start cylinoid. It'll turn over jumping 12v positive to relay wire. Checked starter switch for continuity. Switch is good. Tried to go to the advance diagnostic by leaving lanyard off, pushing start 5 times. I hear nothing. Put lanyard on and push again. Once again nothing.
I disconnected stator plug. No go. Still has the info center showing clock. It does not go off.
So I am worried about it being the mpem. What you guys think?
I guy on one of the other forums swears its the programing of the dess. But wouldn't I get error beeps if I plug in a wrong lanyard. Also I should get some error beeps when I try to go into advance diag.
