Default Power Resets With 3 Beeps 2003 GTI LE RFI

I have a 2003 GTI LE RFI with a problem. I just bought the ski last week and wasn't running. The PO just put a NEW engine he purchased from Bombardier and couldnt get it running. He got frustrated with it and sold it. I have worked on Kawasaki Jetskis before and know them inside and out, but this is my first SeaDoo.

I finished putting the ski together and noticed that the PO had never hooked up the RAVE valve solenoid. I figured this could be the problem he was having. After hooking that up,double checking all the connections and hoses I hit the start button. The ski turns over, fires up but shuts off immediately. The info screen go blank and 5 seconds later the screen turns back on,the fuel pump runs for 2 seconds followed by 3 beeps. It keeps doing this every 7 seconds until the key is removed and put back in. It then gives the normal 2 beeps until I hit the button and the cycle will repeat. I have the service manual and searched many forums and neither says anything about 3 beeps. I am not afraid of chasing electric problems. I am an Avionics Tech and I only work on Bombardier CRJ aircraft. Any info would be greatly appreciated...

Hi Alpheus... ! Itīs hard to find this kind of problem... but i may suggest you few things....seem that the central unit is completely restarting... for some reason... so i would check all connectors for moisture/ water that could be creating low resistance between any positive and any other connector pins ... I would use air pressure to clean and assemble back with dielectric silicon or corrosion x marine. Also check battery voltage... if it keeps restarting with just the key in the place its probably not any sensor.. its something that is energized only with the key, if you unplug all sensors would not cause it.... but anyway i would unplug almost everything step by step to see if unplugging something it would stop restarting... unplug fuel pump, coils....and try your best to find the problem while unplugging stuff, because it would be the easier way to find out the problem.
Try unplug the solenoid.... check for any resistance between the two big poles and the two small wires .. they should not have any resistance...
check if the key switch is giving you a good contact, try to jump the switch wires by hand.. if its not giving a good contact, just a high resistance, it may create this problem...

Just an update for future readers.

Turned out to be corrosion on a couple of pins the the mmpm.

After i Cleaned these up and replaced the sparkplugs it has ran perfect ever since. These plugs are the first thing I look at when any electrical problems appear...

great that i was able to help you!!!
Use sicilone dielectric on those connectors and you will be happy forever ! it would never happen with silicon....
Thanks for getting back !
