Default Salt in Engine Bay

Hi guys,

I just bought a 2011 GTX 215 and used it for the first time last week. When it had all dried up after use, I noticed that some salt was left behind on top of the engine cover and in various areas around the engine bay. I didn't roll the thing and was just running it in. Only thing I can think of is that I used a high pressure water hose to clean the outside of the jetski and maybe it caused some salt to get forced under the seat or is having a bit of salt inside just normal?

Thanks

If you rode in salt water and then rinsed it off, the salt is probably just left over. I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Enjoy your new ski!

Cheers for the reply buddy. Yer I love the new ski and it's mega quick! Just still a little concerned about this though... I used it again today and before I washed it down I lifted the seat up and saw the top of the engine and bits down the side were caked in salt. I'm not sure how it's getting in there or if this is just normal.

Thanks anyway

Its normal. As you ride your new ski the outside air flows thru the hull therfore salt mist will hit the hot engine and solidify. Not to worry. Keep her wiped down on the inside with a rag with a little WD 40 on it and itwill help keep the engine compartment looking beautiful! Congratulations on your new ski and enjoy carefully. These are quick!

Thanks man! I thought this was the case but it just makes you wonder if any salt is getting in the engine. Do you know if these new skis have air filters? It appears it has an airbox. Yeh the thing is pretty damn fast- I have only gone about 3/4 throttle or a little more so far as I'm running it in and the acceleration is pretty crazy. Was almost going to buy the 260 though... hopefully they don't feel too much quicker otherwise I would probably regret not getting one.

Cheers again
