Default Ceramic vs Stainless Washers - 2006 GTX Limited

I am looking to buy a used 2006 GTX Limited that appears to have been taken care of quite well. The unit looks emaculate. I have a couple of concerns and wanted to get the collective wisdom of this forum:

1. The owner says the ceramic washers havent been replaced with stainless and that this isn't an issue with this unit. I have heard most 2003 - 2008 units needed to have this done. Thoughts?

2. The owner said they have used regular unleaded, but the manual calls for premium, I am assuming since it has the supercharged intercooler. Thoughts?

Thanks......seriously considering this unit. Any thoughts on it?

Hey there, good choice in jet skis. I have 3 Seadoo supercharged skis.

I have a 2006 RXT with a RIVA Stage lll kit on it a 2008 GTX 215 and a 2009 RXT-iS.

First off leaving the ceramic thrust washers in the S/C in a no no on your model ski. They usually grenade at about 100 hrs and can damage engine internals while being injested. So they need to be replaced with high strength steel washers, NOT stainless. Jerry Gaddis ther owner of the Green Hulk forum can do it the cheapest if you can't do it yourself. You just have to remove it and ship it. The about every 200 hrs after that they may need replacing again, depends on hard it is run.

Next you are correct in that the owner,s manual "RECOMMENDS" premium fuel for "OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE" the seller is also correct in that it is not manditory to run premium fuel. What happens is if you run regular fuel 87-89 octane the ECU detects that and retards the timing to compensate ergo no problem just a little less performance. That is partly why Seadoo skis outrun like cc skis from competitors they are tuned better from the factory. I have been caught with low fuel on the water with my modified 2006 RXT and used 89 octane with no problems as well as my other skis.

I hope this clears up your questions as you find no better info from anyone else. Take care and enjoy your great ski!

Also Seadoo 4-strokes are as dependable as they come with good maintenance, good european Austrian motors.

I am pretty hand in working on motorhomes, older cars, etc. Is there any documentation on how to go about doing this? I hate to pay someone to do something I can do, but then again I don't want to screw it up. If there is documentation I am quite sure I can do it.

Thanks for the information. I had a 2005 RXT and looking forward to getting back into it.

I have found fairly detailed instructions on how to remove the SC from this unit, but does anyone have any detailed instructions on where to find the washers, the replacement part # for the replacement washers and any tools that might be required. I contacted the dealer that has serviced the unit and the cost was $750..... I am quite confident I can do the work, just need more information before I decide if I want to .
