Default 1999 Seadoo Bombadier GS losing power intermittently

Hi guys,

Brought myself this ski a couple weeks ago. I've had it out on the water twice now.

After the first run, it was choking itself to the point it wouldn't start anymore. It was suggested the wrong oil had been used so I drained the oil reservoir and filled up with penrite full syn.

However even after a solid 8hr day, I still get intermittent power cuts. I could be going flat stick one minute then it drops to 20% throttle. If I stop, remove the key, start it up again, it goes ok until the next occurrence.

I also have the problem where if I've been sitting idle for 5min or so, I get the same issue. If I give it full throttle, it will stall. If I pump the accelerator in and out a few times or give it half choke to take off, it plays nice for a while.

Any suggestions on what might be the cause, or some simple things I can try to get it running smoothly? Previous owner gave it very little use, and he says he was unaware of any issues (of course).

Thanks,
Nash

Check your compression first. It should be 140-150 psi. If that is ok look at getting the carbs rebuilt.
