2003 GTI LE won't go over 35 - PWC Forum: The best hang-out for Personal WaterCraft enthusiasts

My sister in law bought a 2003 GTI LE. It runs great but will not go over 35 MPH. It seems like there is a governor on it restricting the top speed. Does anyone know how to fix this. She is not using a lerning key.

If it is an RFI I would start with checking Batt voltage, maybe a rectifier issue, is the 12 volt low message there? If the rpms are going up and no speed, maybe a wear ring issue. Are you cavitating?

Its not cavitating. I tried it again and I think it is going past 35. I think it is a speedometer problem. Not sure how to fix it. Maybe replace the sensor. I will have her ride next to me and I will check my speedo. Thanks for the reply.

It turns out that the computer can be set to limit the top speed. The dealer set it back to normal settings. Just need the weather to cooperate so we can try it.
