Is it worth it to rebuild a PWC with a bad engine or is it better to just buy one already running? I don't have a big budget to spend all at one time and I do like to tinker around. As I was looking around I found a 97 Seadoo GTS for an asking price of $400 (recently lowered from $600). The owner said it worked up untill about two weeks ago and said that he thinks it might be a siezed motor and does not want to mess with it himself. He said that it is is good shape (haven't seen it yet) with just a bit of sun fading and it does not have a trailer (double trailer so he uses it for his other one also). The one piece of mind from rebuilding would be knowing what the engine is like. Any input would be great! Thanks.

Sounds like an O.K. deal I got my Kawisaki in the same condition with trailer for close to 400. If you are mechanical rebuilding a two-stroke should be pretty easy. I did a mild tear down myself (water in it) and put new rings and such. It was no problem. When you got to look at it I would bring a pair of Vise-Grips and try and spin the driveshaft if it won't turn then it's most likely siezed. Just my .02 cents. Good luck.

Thanks for the input. I don't mind messing around with stuff and thought it would be something to keep me busy and happy when it is finished... Just wasn't sure if it was worth it or not. Thanks again.

Hey, Here's another thought. I parted a 750ZXI with a bad rod bearing. I ended up with about a thousand bucks parting it on Ebay. So for four hundred, you can't go wrong.
