Default Changing an impeller on 97 SPX

Have a 97 SPX....been thinking about a performance impeller for awhile, and am wondering how tough it is to change one. Anyone have any experience with this model? What impeller would you recommend. I'm looking for top-end speed, also would you recommend a new grate?

thanks,

It's not tough. Just pull all the bolts/nuts off from the pump and steering nozzle and slide the pump out. Then take the cone off and drain the oil out. Use a vise to hold the imoeller shaft and unscrew the impeller with the tool they give you when you buy the impeller. I'd go SOLAS, maybe Skat-Trak, but that's all up to you. Then put your cone back on and fill with sea-doo pump oil or any gear lube oil is ok. Pretty simple you'll see. You might gain a couple MPH but mostly you'll see lower and mid-range improvement. You don't have to change the grate, you'll lose top end. If you want handleing, change the sponsons and ride plate.
