Default Hole in crank?

I'm looking at a non running ski, a 98 XP Limited. I spoke to the owner who had a guy come out to look at it, the guy informed him that he had a hole in the crank. I'm guessing this is the crankcase, can anyone give me a rough price for repair. I've looked at getting an sbt engine, however if their is a hole in the crank case, will this mean that I won't be able to use their engine exchange program? The guy said he won't take any less than $800 for it. I know I can get a running one of these for about $2200. Any info would be great. Thanks.
