It will crank and run at half throttle all day but when you open it up it boughs down real bad and will barely go until you let off the gas and then it will pick back up again.

Sounds like you have a fuel delivery problem. Most likely the carbs. I would clean the carbs real well and new plugs. BTY pull a plug and see what color it is. This will help you see how the plugs are firing.
