my 93 Xp is knocking at idle speed. Is it difficult to replace the wear ring in the pump housing?? Do i need a special tool to get the impeller off?? Pretty mechanical, but is this one of those things a mechanic should do??

the hardest thing may be getting the pump loose from the hull. you will need a impeller tool to remove the impeller or an old drive shaft. if you get it out you need to cut the wear ring in 2 places to pry it out, then you can drive the new ring back in. dont forget to put pump oil back in and check the oring.
