Hello,

I just recently became the owner of a 95 GTX. My plan is to convert it over to pre-mix. I was wondering though what type of oil I needed to use. The manual says use nothing but Bombardier Rotax Injection Oil, but seems to be off the market now.

Could I use something like SeaDoo XPS oil or Amsoil INTERCEPTOR 2-Cycle Oil? What would you recommend?

Any two stroke oil that is rated at TCW-3 should do the job. Bombardier still makes two stroke snowmobiles so they do have a two stoke oil for you ski. Though it is expensive.

You may need to carry spare plugs when you convert over. Now you will be running 50:1 at an idle instead of 100:1. Which will foul plugs at idle to long.

The whole idea with oil injection is that it meters the amount of oil at different rpms, which in turn uses less oil and is better for air quality.

50:1 is a ratio for full throttle.

Also it will smoke more at start up.

Is it better to leave the ski Oil Injection and just watch it. The ski has been well maintained before me, and there has never been any issues with it. Any kind of preventative maintenance to insure no issues with the oil injection?

A safe easy way to check your oil injection if it is new to you is to mark the tank and then run it with some oil in the gas about 75:1. After 10 minutes of running stop and check the oil tank level to see if it is dropping below your mark. It is rare that oil injection fails.

Would you want to run that high of ratio with gas, plus with the oil injection. I'm sure it's working I rode it around for about 10 minutes when I went to buy it.

I guess really just wondering what the general opinion was on oil injection. I would rather leave it personally, but after buying a new ski I don't want it to fail on me in the near future. Maybe I'm just worrying to much.

If you know that the oil injection is ok then no don't add oil to the gas. I was suggesting that you run 75:1 just as a safety precaution until you knew it was fine.

BTY the higher the ratio the less oil is in the mix. 50:1 is what most two strokes can run full throttle but is to rich for idling. The lower the first number the more oil is in the mix.

So basically, keep your eye on it and keep it full with quality injection oil.

The first number is gas and the second one is the oil.
