Default 95 xp?

2 weeks ago i bought a 95 seadoo xp with the 717 engine with dual carbs. When i got it it had a hole in the top of the piston so i thought it wasnt a big deal. SO what i did was took the piston out and put a new one in with new rings and such. Well today i went to test it out on the water for about 10 mins and it ran fine. ( btw just took it out to make sure it ran okay ) Well i get back to the house and go to flush it out well it ran for about 1-2 mins then made a loud bang so i shut it off and took the head off it and the whole outer top out the piston blew apart. So i took the rest of the jug and everything off and a chunk out of the side of the jug blew apart too. What do u guys think would cause this?

It's stock right? Otherwise if it has a pipe you should run high octane fuel in these motors. That's all I can think of.

Probably cylinder went lean due to no oil in that cylinder.
I have a single carb intake off a 96 sp. I may work. I had a 587 engine in it
