Default 97 Bombardier Oil Question

So after the ski has been sitting for 2 years, I got a new battery, replaced the plugs, put some fresh gas in and got it to fire up after a few attempts. I had to spray Throttle body cleaner into the throttle when starting it to get it to actually fire and catch and idle. It ended up blowing out a bunch of white smoke, i figure because it had old gas and old oil and its just blowing it out. The engine is strong and sounded fine while idling. My question is about the oil i need. I know it recommends to get the oil from the dealer, but can i get 2 cycle oil from say Wal-mart that will be fine for this older machine that hasnt had much TLC in the past 5-7 years. Would 1 of these 2 products work

Walmart.com: Quicksilver Premium Plus 2-Cycle Oil, 2.5 Gallon: Automotive

Walmart.com: Pennzoil Marine XLF TC-W3 2-Cycle Engine Oil, 1 Gal: Automotive

Thanks for any and all input!!!!

Default Don't do it

I looked hard into this issue when I first got my Sea-Doo's and almost made the mistake you are contemplating. Just bite the bullet and buy the Sea-Doo oil. I find that, all-told, I really don't burn all that much anyway, but that's a separate rationale, and may not apply to you.

NO, do not use outboard oil. Get the Sea-Doo oil or the QuickSilver PWC oil if you don't want to spend the money. What Sea-Doo is this?

I own a 1997 GTI. It's my first pwc and am just learning everything about it. I checked wal-mart last night and they don't have the oil a need. I'm going to check at Bass Pro Shops tonight to see their selection. I called the dealer today and they said a gallon of the mineral oil is $32.99 and the synthetic oil is $49.99. my ski is older so I think I will be fine with regular mneral oil, any thoughts?

Get the Sea-Doo mineral oil, that is what is recommended for the 718 engine. The synthetic is for the newer 800 and 951 power plants.

Thank you so much for your input, I can't wait to get this machine in the water on Thursday. As far as all the white smoke that came out when we got it started, I was figuring it was because of older gas and oil, it was sitting for 2 years and hardly had gas or oil in it, we added fresh gas and got it to start but it was pushing out a good bit of white smoke, it started to smoke less after idling for a little bit. It probably needs fresh oil and gas run through the system, I don't think it's a problem though

Yeah I would not worry about it. Motor was most likely fogged prior to storage and the smoke was just the fogging oil burning off.
