2006 rxt taking on water
This problem is more than likely a carbon ring and boot replacement. My ski runs fine but there is this water coming from what I think is the driveshaft seal. My ski has 92 hours on the drive train. When I pulled it out today and pulled the plugs after running it hard for 3 hours or one tank of gas, lol Water came out for about 2 minutes. Nothin on the engine and exhaust is leaking, So not much talk about this problem in other posts. Hopefully some one has been thru this.

Nope does not cavitate, runs great smoked muscle boats with ease. The water ran down from the port side harder than the starboard side, I was on a steep ramp when I drained it. Bilge pump is gettin installed this week for peace of mind. Hopefully this carbon ring and boot nails it. Goin down to Ocean City MD for a week in August.Gotta be right for that. Well at least the parts are under $100.00

I'd make sure that's your problem before you just throw one in. I've gone down that road! I have already spent well over $300 in tools and parts to solve a problem that I was certain existed and then come to find out that I didn't have the bolts tight between the pump and the nozzle housing.
I keep reading horror stories about swamped skis and then the resulting bilge pump install. It makes a guy think "should I have one?"

Funny you should mention that, because that is exactly what Mike and I are doing tomorrow night. we are going to remove them and examin them for wear. Also doing some other stuff. going to adjust the blow off valve, replacing the coil boots as well, gonna try raising my sponsons all the way up and see if that is some mph , less drag. Oh yea and a bilge pump.

Live and Learn folks
Ok , we nailed it on the first attempt. Just pulled out my carbon ring and its been heated up and shrank, basically trash. At 92 hours you would think this weird. Well it is these should not wear out unless you do stupid stuff as in running to long on the trailer and revving it up on the trailer like I have. So, please learn from my mistake and don't burn up your carbon ring and bellows. Even with the water on it will burn up because no water goes to it. $100.00 in parts and about 3 hours of work. But this will also give me a chance to true the engine alignment as well.
Oh yeah for peace of mind got a RULE-MATE 500 GPH automatic bilge pump going as well, $58.00 West Marine, Perko Chrome plated 3/4 " brass thru hull fitting $21.00 Sails Marine
So let this be a lesson about runnin it outta water
1 Don't run it long - 15 seconds Max
2 Don't rev it up at all

And I quote: I would assume your referring to the carbon seal on the driveshaft. Bad thing is the hose doesn't keep that seal cooled/lubricated. I worry about that some too. Was thinking of splitting the garden hose and throwing a sprinkler under it and putting a hose in the rear when running it on the trailer.
Just kidding ya. glad to hear you got it figured out. There was somebody on greenhulk that was trying to sell a carbon ring and bellows in the seadoo section.

Ya Know, I was thinking about you tonite when we were tearing down my ski. Mike never inferred that it would get water on the hose, he meant just wait till you are on the hose to blow out the exhaust after flushing. But ya didn't think about it until 5 years and 92 hours later the problem really shows itself after runnin wide open, which is more than not, and gets worse as the problem goes on. That exhaust sounds too good, just use it in the water

Ain't no warranty on a STAGE III perfomance kit. But at least we were able to handle job ourselves and kept it outta the dealers mitts. YIKES, that would a been another $300.00 labor
And wait two weeks for the pleasure.
