It seems I have some electrical issue. The key no longer beeps at all. Then when trying to start it, it would just make this rhythmic thudding sound from the starter. So I did a battery check which read 2.1V and 9% battery... so I charged it overnight (@2amps) and took it out the next morning. It ran like shit... then opened up a little... then upon turning it off and restarting it ran like shit again... So I brought it back home and checked the battery. Had almost NOTHING again. I then replaced the battery, charged the new one overnight and hooked it up this morning. When I tried to start it as soon as I installed it... just got that thudding from the starter again. Within 15mins the battery was @ 2% and 2V. WTF? ... ugh... anyone??

Did you have any luck figuring it out? I have a 1997 XP and it's doing something very similar, but I can't even get mine to start. I put my DESS key on it and I get no beeps but the gauges move a little. When I try to start it I get the rythmic clanking sound coming form the starter. It almost sounds like the bendix on the starter it coming out like it should be doing, but the bendix teeth aren't aligning up with the flywheel's teeth to start it. I took the starter off, put new brushes on it and inspected the bendix but everything checked out ok. My new battery is also draining very fast...
