Default 1995 spx surging at wot.

1995 Seadoo spx with 657x motor.

130 p.s.i. in both cylinders
new spark plugs ngk br8es
xps oil. Still uses factory oil injection.
I only burn clean premium fuel.
ski is completely bone stock, factory paint is still on all carburetor/head bolts.
twist off filter is clean
still has problem in either on or reserve with fuel selector.
I did tip it one its right side one week ago and got a little water sucked in cylinder through exhaust to the point where it turned over very slow. blew water it out with plugs off, put fogging oil in cylinders and let it set a little bit, ran like a champ and put 4 hours on it after that.

Ski is surging from half to wide open throttle (obviously more drastic at wot) aftershort warm up. Will pull out of the hole fine until it hits top end.

When i shut ski off in the water and wait no more than 1 minute and try it again, it will pull out of the hole like a beast and go comletely wide open for about one football field and then start surging again.

Any ideas where to start or what to start with? obviously a fuel probem but where? diaphragms?

Does it have the original gray Tempo fuel lines? If so start by replacing these and cleaning the carb micro screens.

Sounds like the exact same problem mine is having. Same year, same machine.
For me, it is almost like the fuel delivery can't keep up with the engine at a higher rpm. When the seadoo is at a lower rpm, the fuel fills the carbs and then once the fuel gets used at a higher rpm, the fuel delivery can't keep up and the engine "pulses" or "surges" as it uses the small amount of fuel that is there.
Any help from anyone is appreciated!

Thanks for the reply

It's got the grey Tempo fuel lines but they look like they are newer, like they had been replaced with the same thing. These lines are also not garbage or gooey on the inside. Some have a greenish/bluish color on the connecting ends.

I took all the fuel lines out and measured them. here are the measurements in case anyone else has to do this god forsaken job.

pto carb line 60"
two fuel selector lines 26" each
mag carb line 30"
twist off filter to selector 9"
carb to carb line 2 3/4"
pulse line 7"

total line needed 160 3/4" or 13.39 feet

I'm buying 15' to suffice

Have a rebuild kit on the way for the carbs and am going to carquest tommorow to get black fuel lines. Rebuild kit is $36.00 per carb from local shop that deals with parts unlimited. Will also try to clean out fuel selector just in case. Diaphragms were badly worn on the carbs (the ones on the back above the needle valves) and both micro-screens were half plugged with mysterious goo.

Don't understand why I would mess with idle screws when it has to do with wide open throttle? Please explain?

Rebuilt all the carbs with the 2 Winderosa performance carb kits. All fuel lines were replaced with the black line and re-zip tied. in-line filters before the carbs to help keep those pesky micro screens clear. The ski now does 58 m.p.h. on g.p.s. in calm water as to where it did 52 before it started surging. Problem fixed, Thanks for the help.
