Default alternatives to rebuilding engine? 94 spx

i have a 94 sea doo spx or atleast i think thats the year of it. the only thing that confuses me is that there is an xp gauge setup on it. so im not sure if the gauge cluster was swapped out or if someone put the spx decals on it. either way the motor is shot and i need to either A) rebuild it or B) replace it.

I know I'm capable of rebuilding the engine being that ive rebuilt engines before, but my curiosity peaked when i realized i had a running and complete motorset out of a 87 ninja 750. im curious if there was a way to make this setup work possibly? would get rid of the 2 stroke engine but im not sure how the rest would be set up... including cooling.

im definitely up for the challenge i just would need a little insight on what would be required to have everything set-up properly.

As far as I know the 94 SP range had the single gauge hood, so that sounds right. As far as converting a motorcycle engine to marine use would be very difficult. You'd have custom fabricate just about everything plus that hull is small to begin with. Why not just look on craigslist for a good running original motor? Did this ski have the 585 or 657 motor?

I have a dual gauge hood that just says XP on it which is what confused me.

It has a 657 dual carb.

I figured I'd have to figure out a way to get the cooling system to work lol but this is basically my project ski since we just picked up a 94 kawi with a 7XXcc engine. I figured I'd at least make this thing a bit quicker than it was stock (which was pretty quick... I just get greedy when it comes to going faster. If it was possible to put a turbo on it trust me I would be doing it hahaha but a turbo 2 stroke is just pointless)

So Basically you have a 657x motor. That is the motor that i have in my 95 ski, And i just did a top end rebuild on it. Its easy to rebuild the motor. Only took about 3 or 4 hours to do the top end. So if you want to get it running that would be the fast easy way. Then you can add the after market stuff to make it faster.
