I have a 1997 GTX that was running fine this summer. It's been sitting in the lake for the first time at a buddy's house since June... run it once or twice a week. It was doing 50 mph. Now it's only doing 25 mph.

The engine has good compression and I had the spark plugs changed. At full throttle it's giving me 6500 rpms and there is no hesitation at throttle up (comes out of the hole okay)... it just isn't going very fast.

Anybody have any guesses?

Sounds like a bent trailing edge of the prop,bad wear ring or a stripped driveshaft.
