hello. I am new but I have been reading these forums for a while. I was hoping to see if someone has had the same issue my 97 xp is giving me. I no longer cranks over. The motor is not locked and I am getting a ground signal to the new starter solenoid. I am not sure as to why it is a ground signal and not a pwr signal to the relay. I was working just fine the weekend before. I tryed to start it at home a couple of days ago and it will not do anything. the vts gage jumps up slightly indicating that the pwr is there. Tryed new batter and cables. any one??

You have a direct short to ground. Unplug connector going into the front of motor and recheck polarity. Check for worn insulation on cables. Unplug accessories one by one checking polarity each time until you find the short.
