My 96 SP is not charging the battery. I am not sure how to start trouble shooting this problem. I am assuming it's a PMG with a recetifier. I haven't checked any fuses yet, I am picking it up today to start figuring it out.

On another note: it doesn't beep nor has it ever made a beep when installing the safety lanyard. Now here is the strange part; I was riding it yesterday and came in after cruising for 30 mins + and when I idle down (mine idles slow) I started hearing a beep trying to beep continous. reading about this sounds like an over heat condition. Then when I rev it up just a little the beep stops. Could it be I just have the idle set too low? Water surface temp is 80F and both pee'ers are peeing although not much at idle. Before this I didn't think it had a beeper, now I wonder if it should be beeping when I put the lanyard on.

Other than that this thing runs like new.

Update: Ok, I just pulled it from the water and I checked both fuses and they are both good. There was some signs of moisture in the electrical box but not much. I also tested the beeper my temporarily shorting the temp sensor wire and the beeper works very well, it never came on that solid while it was running; I am thinking I just need to idle it up at lease in warm water.

Still not sure what I should check on the charging issue or if my ski should beep when you install the lanyard.

2nd update; my charge coil is measuring 500k ohms, so that answers my charging problem.

Does anyone have a 96' SP that beeps when the lanyard is plugged in?
