Default tigershark in need of a rebuild, need your help!!

ok guys well i recently bought a 99 tigershark ficht li and i took the stator cover off thnking it was the starter idle gear , but came to find out the engine is seized up and wont turn over by hand even after i took out all the spark plugs. my question is if it is worth spending the money to rebuild it and most importantly where can i buy parts for this thing? i will probably take off the top end tommmorow to see if its the top end or low end that needs replacing? what do u guys think about this, should i sell it or should i rebuild it? thanks for ur time to read .

Well I did some searching and parts seem to still be plentiful at Arctic Cat parts stores. Alfa Sports Arctic Cat parts has all factory parts you would need. Factory parts are obviously not the cheapest so another option is Ebay. You didn't mention what model you have so I checked most available models and found the same result. If it were me I would give rebuilding it a shot. Depending on your budge, you should be able to get this thing done well under a fraction of the cost of a new ski. Just my 2¢.

Thanks for the reply. Well I've never been or worked on a jetski. So I don't know if its worth fixing and mine the 99 ficht model fuel injected 1100. Do the 1000 parts fit on this model? I see a lot of parts on eBay for the 700 and 1000 s but not much on the 1100? How much do u think I'd spend if I were to rebuild it from the crank to the top end?? Thanks again

I was only able to track down factory parts as aftermarket seem to just not exist. The OE parts I found was from Alfa-sports (an Arctic Cat online parts site.) For the top alone: pistons are $90 a piece, a ring kit is $75 (I'm assuming the kit has rings for all three jugs,) gasket kit $75-$150, new wrist pins are $25 a piece, the wrist pin bearings are also $25 a piece. Have you taken the head covers off and taken a peek yet? It seems like that engine was only used by Arctic Cat one maybe two years so parts are scarce but not impossible to find. Hope this helps.

I looked up the blue book value of your ski and if it was in "perfect restored condition" it's worth $1880. So with a seized up motor, figure take $1000-$1300 off. You might get more because of the fact your model was only made one year. The funny thing with discontinued makes is either people are scared to buy due to lack of parts availablity or collectors will pay big bucks because there are so few around.

What other engine could i put in this thing. Maybe it be cheaper to buy a used engine. I know i wont be able to find the same engine size unless i get lucky.??

I looked up various models on the parts diagrams and it seems the 1100 is unique. The 900s and 1000s more conventionally by mounting straight down to a mounting plate the runs horizontally to the bottom of the hull. The 1100 mounts with two separate mounts. One mounting bracket on the mag end of the engine, the other on the PTO end of the engine. I can't tell if that hull ever used a 900good or 1000, if it did there would be existing mounts not in use on your hull. If you see where a horizoral plate could mount then you might be able to drop either a 900 or 1000 might just drop in with the addition of a 900/1000 engine mounting plate. If not you could fabricate a plate. Would you be able to post some pictures? Its a lot easier to see what's possible with some pictures.

hey bud i had time to work on the jetski but wasnt able to pull the motor out cause i couldnt loosen the drivshaft?>??? any tips on how to do that? and i took off the heads off the 3 cylinders and i took some pics for u. do u have an email i can send them to u to see wat u think. 2 pistons look like water got into them and one looks normal . and one of the water hoses were disconected so im hoping that im just in need of a top end rebuild instead of the whole engine. let me know about ur email or a cellphone number so i cansend u the pics. thanks man
