Default '99 900TSL - Oil Injection Removal

I want to start by saying thanks for the the great info on this site.

I am installing a new cylinder so while I am working on the ski I was looking to remove the oil inection system. It looks like I need to remove the engine to get to the lower screw - I do not want to do that.

Question - can I disconnect the throttle cable to the pump, disconnect the lines and plug the inlets to the intake and remove the oil tank and feed line, leaving the pump installed?

Thanks!!

The big problem with doing that is the oil pump will seize from being run dry and the shaft will crack off and could damage the stator or starter bendix or both. .
I suppose if you had the inclination and ingenuity, you could make it pump its oil back into the oil tank and not into the engine so it was just recirculating. I have never heard of anyone doing this but it was just a thought.
Remember you just got rid of your oil pump and put oil in the fuel, but you do not have premix fuel in the fuel lines. It’s a good idea to squirt some oil down the carburetors then start the watercraft on the flush kit and let it idle for about 15 minutes. This allows the un-mixed fuel to clear the lines.

This is just some info that I came across/never owned a 2-stroke.
Best of luck
