Default 95 tigershark 900 Hole in piston!!!!

Here goes, I have a 900, low hours but sat for 5-6 years. Cleaned tank, hoses, water lines, carbs, everything. Started right up ran fine and then started bogging. Check cylinders and the 3rd one has a hole in the top of the piston. What do you think caused it? I have not opened the cylinder up yet to inspect it and see what collateral damage I have incured. Would a new piston and ring set be enough. I suspect it ran lean or to much air, spark plug electode was completely fried. Thanks

it sounds like you have a detonation problem most likely caused by a lean condition. if you didnt rebuild the carbs i would start there. i worked on a tigershark a few years ago that done this that had a flywheel key that was half sheered and was still running but out of time.
