Default 96 Montego 640

I need to replace the starter on this machine but I don't have a schematic or service manual for it. I looked on your site for a downloadable manual but couldn't find one. Not sure I even need one, but, here's where I am now. I removed the two 10mm bolts and the + and - connections from the old starter, but can't seem to pull it out. The machine has been sitting for about 3 years. Should I be removing anything else first, or should the starter pull out after what I've just done? I know not to jiggle or pry the unit for fear of breaking the shaft or damaging the flywheel. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
