New to PWC's, need help with some info.
Ok, so I just bought a 1996 (or 97, not sure) Tigershark Daytona 770. The guy I bought it from says it's been sitting for 5 years, but it's in excellent condition.
I've confirmed the electronics still work - but before I attempt to spin it over I want to put fresh fuel/oil in it. I know nothing of PWC's, so here's what I'd like to know:
It's a 2 stroke 2 cylinder engine.
What kind of fuel is recommended?
How much oil goes in with the fuel? (It's got two caps - one for gasoline and the other for oil).
Would regular two-stroke motor oil work fine?
What kind of oil should I use in the crank-case?
Thanks in advance!

There is no oil in the crack case I used a 50:1 mix I have unhooked all my gas and oil mixing stuff on my ski dont like it, But if the oil pump works then just add 2 stroke oil for the one that say oil I would clean out both the oil and gas tank and put some new oil in it and add a can of sea foam to helo clean everything out good I use Quicksivler oil for PWC I can get it a walmart cheap and I have ran it for years. I would pull the spark plugs out and put a little bit of oil down the plugs hole turn it over by hand a few time put some new plugs in it and fire it up.

Thanks for the input.
I hooked it up to a battery charger, but the battery won't hold much of a charge. Even with the battery charger on it putting out full charging power, the starter won't turn the engine very fast at all. Maybe 3 revolutions per second.
The bilge pump works but it seems there's a clogged hose somewhere. because once you let go of the bilge pump button it spits all the water back in.
Also, what is the toggle switch by the choke used for? on this one it's broken, but I'm not sure if it's was broken turned on or turned off.
looks like I'm going to need to rebuild the carbs on this one. I'll probably end up pulling the entire motor and bench testing everything to make sure stuff works.

Not looking to buy anything as I'm broke. I'm going to compile a list of all problems there are, work on fixing them with the resources I have, then buy stuff as a last resort.

Are you referring to the normal/reserve fuel switch? I think that is what you are talking about. If it runs it is in either normal or reserve and not off. Country cat overstock has a lot of Tigershark parts and fairly inexpensive too. They may have a new switch in stock.
As far as the bilge pump goes, it does spit some water back in the hull after it turns off, that is normal. Does it pump out a large amount of water when held for a couple minutes?
Also sounds like you need a new battery or try topping off the cells with distilled water if it is a lead/acid batt. first. Do you have a engine start function on your charger? If so, use that.
Hope this helps...

There's only a small little puddle of water in the craft for the bilge pump to pick up, but it sucks it up no problem.
Yes there's a 12 volt 200 amp starting function on my charger. It would spin the starter faster, but still not very quickly.

That thing needs fresh gas, the carbs cleaned, a new battery and a good thorough inspection. It will run best on 87 octane fuel. Because it doesn't have power valves, any TC3 rated 2-stroke oil will work but I would prefer to run a good quality oil like Arctic Cat oil.
As previously mentioned, there is no crank case oil.
You may want to drain the oil too but if you do, you have to find the bleeder screw on the injection pump.
On the first tank of gas, I would pour a pint of 2-stroke oil in the gas tank. Then check the oil reservoir to visually verify that the ski is using oil. It won't use much but if it isn't using any, your injection pump is crap and you will need to do something with that

That is normal for the bilge pump, it will not be able to pump everything out of the hull but will leave a small amount equal to what fills up the bilge hose.
What kind of batt do u have? Lead acid, AGM? If lead/acid they are cheap and usually will only last for a couple years or so max. The starter function will probably not be able to crank the engine by itself.

It is a lead-acid ATV battery.
I think I'm going to end up pulling the entire motor, rebuild the carbs and make sure any hoses aren't clogged.
I just don't trust things that have been sitting outside for 5 years.
I appreciate all the replies!
