Smile 1996 TS 770 questions

Hi everyone I'm new to this forum as well as jet skis.. I do consider myself a decent mechanic so I just need some guidance. I just scored a couple of cheap Ts"s and the one I'm working on first is a daytona 770 and here's the condition I found it in. The hull had about 3 or 4" of water with 2 stroke oil floating on top. The engine cranks over and fires with a prime. I've removed and tore down the carbs and they hasd rust and water in them. No wonder it stopped running. Anyways onto questions, Can i eliminate the oil injection and just mix my own? Where does it draw water in for cooling? And finally is there atrick to easier mounting /reinstalling those carbs? I realize someone let alot of water get in the fuel , probably by the gas cap having the clear indicater dome missing. The water in the hull i feel was the result of letting it set out in the weather and the seat seal leaking. Sorry for the lenght but that should cover most questions and I do thank you in advance for help.

yes you can premix your fuel to 40:1 or 50:1 but first you will have to remove the oil pump and install a block off kit. here is the link TigerShark 640/770 OIl Injection Block Off Plate - PWC Engine, Inc. the water come from the pump at the back where the prop is. about the water you can just tight up the gas and oil caps and make sure the seat is locked down good and with a garden hose wet the ski and see if water is getting in there. the jetski has a auto pump in the ski to remove water but only when the ski is running or you can press the override.. also check out my website for alot of good stuff

Default It Lives!!!!

Thanks so much for your kind reply. I have it running on some 40 to one with klotz lubricant i alreaady had mixed up for a RC gasoline boat. It sucks fuel directly from can and returns there, so I hav'nt had time yet to get into the fuel tank yet to purge it. I did get to take it to the river and back the trailer down into the water to run it and alls well with the exception of a leak around the water/sand filter housing. I suspect a o ring or something. I ordered the block off plate for the injector pump.
