Default 96 Montego Oil Leak

I recently purchased two identical 96 Montego's Both in excellent condition with two previous owners who had them maintained. I've had them on the water about a dozen time this summer and have noticed some oil and water in the hull and finally decided to give them a good cleaning.

1st- I did a flush, the correct way! for about 5mins for each ski.

2nd- I pulled one at a time off the back of the trailer at an incline so water would drain. so I sprayed engine degreaser and power wash the inside until they shined.

When finishing up the second one I fired it up so the bilge pump would pump out some of the water then I noticed oil leaking off the engine mount plate.

I tried to see where it was coming from and it looked like it was dripping near the front of the starter but not sure of the exact source.

I'm not sure if it was like that prior to the wash and just didn't notice because they were dirty to begin with or if it was a result of being on the incline.

The oil was clean and blue in color, so I'm wondering if I have a bad gasket somewhere or something else.

These are my first ski's so I don't know too much about them, but have learned quite a bit and am capable of doing repairs.

Thanks! Chris

I still haven't fired it back up yet now that they're sitting level on the trailer but I did notice that the bladder that mounts on the crankcase above the starter is no longer attached and I did find it in the hull when I was cleaning it out but thought it was off the jet drive since I noticed it missing when I bought them. I didn't even know there was a bladder under there until I noticed it on my other ski.

So I think I should probably replace them and is there supposed to be oil in the crankcase or wherever they attach?

I'm not sure if this is the problem or if I just found another part to replace?

Well just got done doing another flush on it and it definitely looks like its coming from where the bladder is supposed to be.
I'm going to try to post a pic.

Any input from those who have worked on these would be great! I'm trying to get thing narrowed down to eliminate any guessing.

I'm wondering if it can just be plugged off with something temporarily until I get a replacement bladder. Just need to figure out what.

Also should oil be coming out of there?

The bladder is for the magneto case (front of the engine) It is sealed so when it heats up the air inside expands. The bladder gives the air a place to expand. The black oil inside the hull is from the constant sloshing of the ski. This causes oil and fuel to spill inside the hull since it's carburated. The blue oil is from the oil injection system some where. These are two stroke machines, usually you would have to mix it 50:1 ie Gas:OIL. The pump on the front of the engine pumps oil in just under the carburetor to lubricate the engine. No oil goes in the case. The thing on the front of the engine that looks like an oil cap is for checking timing. You either have a line leaking that goes to/from the oil pump or the pump is leaking. I hope this helps.
