Default 1989 yamaha waveruner overheating

I recently purchased a 1989 wr500 for $250, I have gotten it running great but it does not circulate water through the engine with the pump. I have worked on many cars and tractors but am new to jet skis, I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, but the jet pump is what pumps the water to cool the engine? The ski moves plenty fast for the very short time I have ridden it so I assume the pump is working properly. Is there ant reason why the pump wouldn't also be circulating water through the engine? I tried pulling the line off the exhaust that I believe supplies cooling water to the engine and blew through it and it was clear so now I'm stuck. Any help is appreciated.

Default found it

Pulled the plate off that covers the pump and found out that the hose that goes to the motor to provide cooling water had been taken off, I put it back on and everything works just as it should.
