440 will not start when warm...
when we recived this this thing, the engine was completely tore down, we assembled it, rebuilt the carb, it will fire up and run perfectly, but once it is shut down, it will never start again, any ideas where to go? it seems to b getting way too much fuel when this happens

i didnt get a chance to see them, someone else did the basic engine build, and im gettin stuck with all the tuning and problems lol guessing that should be the next step?
some one told me at the lake that the return line from the carb may need a restricter in it? but sounded a little strange to me...

from what you are saying sounds like the thing is flooded? maybe a broken reed or worn reed pedal?
fire it up and look down the carb throat, rev it up and see it you see fuel coming back up towards the air box. shouls see fuel shooting up in the middle venturi if it is a broken reed pedal.
other then that i would go through the carbs again. could have put a diapham in backwards or something.

i know the carb rebuild is good, i studied it alot during assembly, i hate doing things twice lol, but yes fuel can be seen jumping up even when cranking with no start, so i will go after the reeds first

sorry man, my bad i thought your ski was xl700, i am trying to answer alot of questions on different ski on this forum. i am bored now becuase there no surf!!!!!!!!!!!
so i am not sure about your ski i think there are some models that dont have them and some that do. but when i suspect a reed problem that is the way i check it for a broken reed with out having to take off the manifold. and that is usually an indication when gas come up from the center while reving it up.
not really familiar with the first gen jetski's, your going way back now man! before my time!!!!!!!!!!

i think i may have a busted/cracked carb body, before the rebuild i noticed fuel on the outside of the carb, and alot in the bottom of the hull, after the rebuild and the run two days ago, yesterday i pulled the hood and still have the same issue, so think i gona try a new carb
