I just bought a 1990 550. The lady who sold it to me didn't know much other than that it ran last summer and that somebody at a ski shop said all it needed was a new battery and the starter box. I dont know what its called, but its the black box with the coil, starter solenoid, etc. Any suggestions on where to find this part, or about how much it will cost? Also, I don't have a trailer, any suggestions on launching from a truck bed?

a 440/550 electric box is the same... The older 440 boxes look different but will still work.

What about the supplies to the fuel pump? If i remember right the 440 did not have an electric fuel pump?

the '90 550sx does not have an electric fuel pump, its vacuum operated off of a pulse line off the crankcase. you might be thinking about the rev limiter
