Talking Kawasaki 550 sx Impeller/Pump issue

Hi all,

Just in the process of replace the jet pump with a reconditioned one which has an after market Solas Supra impeller on it. Before i installed the pump the impeller was spinning around nicely within the housing. After installing the impeller i tried to turn the engine over and it felt like something was seized. I took the pump off again and the engine fired up as normal. Upon inspection of the pump i noticed that the impeller would not spin around any more. I have take the housing of the impeller section and it still will not spin around.

Could it be a dodgy bearing or impeller installed incorrectly???

Any help would really be appreciated guys and girls.

Thanks

Darren

There's nothing wrong with Solas!! I currently use one...

Can you see if the impeller is binding against anything in the pump housing? Like is it visibly hitting or touching the wear-ring? Can you remove the impeller? If so does the impeller shaft spin freely?

When you say it spun fine before the install, did you spin it around more than once? Any grinding at all?

After the install when u tried to fire up the engine, did it turn over at all or would it simply not spin?
