Default 440 / 550 crank seal replacement

just looking for tips on replacing crank seals on a 440. i was told it could be done without removing the bottom half. Is the crank the most common area for air leaks or is there a more notorious area i should inspect? the ski leans out on top end.... so i started looking for air leaks on the engine. i was also told it should (the block) be air tight up to 15 psi.

any other go fast tips would be great.
( most "go fast" for the dollar)

Default 440/550 seals

I have seal sets for $16.95 and yes you have to split the cases to change them. You need to remove the motor from the ski, remove the flywheel and stator and tear the motor apart. Mike

When you remove the motor from the ski you don't need to tear off the cylinder block or above. Just remove the cradle plate, and the 10 bolts on the bottom of the engine. I have to do the same thing and replace all 3 seals on the crankshaft.
