Thumbs up Injector or premix

I have a 300 and the previous owner decided to just bypass the oil tank and injector system and just premix himself. How common is this? Should I go back to the old system to take down on smoke and save some oil?

I go with premix. Takes the worry out of it all. Use good quality oil and you won't see lots of smoke.
