Default Spring in cylinder

Hey guys, i'm fairly new to jet ski's. I have an 85 JS550. This weekend I had it out and it ran for about half a tank and then it started bogging down and running on one cylinder. I pulled the spark plug out and it had a spring stuck in it. The spring is about the size of one that would be in a pen. I can't think of anything that would have a spring in it besides the carburetor...maybe something came apart in there? Put a new plug in and it seemed to run fine again, but didn't want to keep running it until I figured out the problem. Any ideas?

Nevermind. Took it to the shop this morning. They said that the spring was from a seal coming apart somewhere in the motor. They're tearing to apart to see replace that seal and any other seals that need replacing.
