Default 550 Electrical Problem- Installed new charge coil- Now if I hook up batt charger...

It will spike up to 10 amps!
If I disconnect BOTH white wires from the plug in the CDI batt. charger shows no load at all.

If I leave one white wire in the load is there but only half as much...

I have the flywheel off. (No chance of coil shorting out on it).

New coil resistance is 3 ohms (same as another charge coil I have).

IMPORTANT HISTORY.....

Before buying the new coil I swapped in a used stator plate I bought but the charge coil unbeknownst to me was bigger than a standard coil. The flywheel binded on the coil when I tied to put it on so I ground down the two pickups until it no longer rubbed (or so I thought)..
I put everything back together and hooked up the battery and charger...

The charger was pegged and then the breaker clicked and it shut off...
The whole engine was WARM! The coil was still touching the flywheel and was shorting out!

Sooooo...... I bought a new coil (didn't know they were available!) and put it on my original stator plate.

And here I am....

any suggs?

I am just getting back into this standup thing after a 10+ year hiatus.
