Default Does motor have to be removed 1999 yamaha waverunner xl700

A friend of mine needs to replace the bearing in the jet drive. There thinking that the motor have to be taken out to get the jet drive off and replace the bearing. Does it? Also any tips on replacing the bearing would be helpful. Thanks!!!!

Don't know about the XL700, but on some of the other models you can get to it by pushing the engine forward without having to remove it. I'm guessing that you are talking about the bearing in the intermediate housing? Then you have to pull the oil seals out of the housing to get to the bearing.
