newby here!!
98 model 1200 I need to remove the top cowl in order to tighten the 4 bolts that hold the handle bars to the frame, they are loose and the handle bars will slide up and down slightly, so how do I remove the top cowl? only see 2 bolts in the front and no others????

or is there an easier way to get to the steering bolts that im missing?

ok got that fixed, was able to reach them from under the cowl as i stood on a stool! feel better now!
