most of the time here's what happens
From an idle I hit the throttle to take off and the engine starts to quit
To keep it from cutting off i hit the choke and after it recovers i release the choke and it runs fine.

It's a dual carb 1996 wave venture 700 - 3 seater

That could only be caused by a fuel restriction: carbs, fuel valve, or bad pick up. 9 out of 10 times it is the carbs.
