Default D-plate ?

So the end of the season has come were I live.I am getting ready to winterize. While I was doing this I wanted to scrap the cat.I thought adding the dplate was an easy mod?I have a 2007 1300r and looking at the mid west manual I have it looks like most of the exhaust would need to be removed to split the pipe.At one point the manual says if you are having problems removing exhaust to remove the cylinder head.I thought this was a 20 minute job. Also it says I will need all new gaskets. Are there any short cuts.
