Rectifier/regulator is for charging the battery. If you have no juice going to the ignition coils there are many possible causes: stator, ECU, stop switch, kill switch, loose/corroded connection, slant detection switch, main relay, starter relay, etc.
If you are getting juice to he ignition coils, but not enough for spark then most likely a problem with the ECU, or stator. First step is to measure the ECU peak output voltage (it should be 0.8 volts while you are cranking the engine, and around 174 volts at 2000 rpms). If you are getting less than 0.8 cranking volts the next step is to check the pickup coil output, but you need a test harness for this test. (to test cranking voltage hold both the stop and start switches with the lanyard attached).
Are you getting any error codes? Is the display lighting up? Is the engine turning over? I'd look at the easy stuff first: switches and fuses, and any loose or corroded connections. Problems with the stator are hard to diagnosis without a test harness. May be easiest to let a dealer hook it up to the computer to track down the problem.
