Default 1200 motor in a 700 hull?

Can I install a Yamaha 1200cc motor (non powervalve) in a 2003 XL-700 hull without any other mods or do I also need to change the driveshaft or impellor or pump?

I think you would need a new shaft and a whole different pump for the 1200 engine. I suspect the motor would fit the mounts, but I've never heard of anyone else doing this specific swap, so don't know for sure.
