Default 96 WaveRaider 1100 vs 97 GP1200 Which to buy?

Hi
I am going to pull the trigger on a Christmas PWC.

I have a good example of each of the above mentioned machines availble. Both are in great aesthetic condition, original owners, ~130ish hours. Lets assume the engines are in equal good condition.

The 1100 is asking $2000 with trailer
The 1200 is asking $2800, but agreed to $2400 with trailer and trailer box.

Which one would you buy? What differences would I notice in ride characteristics? I have only ridden a WaveRaider 1100 before, not the GP 1200.

I am in Washington

A quick response would be great, I am looking to buy this weekend.

THANKS!

I would say the GP1200 will be the better ride. It has a more modern hull design and is a more stable ski. I've never ridden the 1100 WaveRaider, but if it has the same hull as the 700 it was not a very stable ski by modern standards.

Be sure to do a compression check and hopefully a test ride before you buy.

Good Luck!

Thanks Ernest. Yes, I will be doing a compression test. Probably won't make it out on the lake before I buy. I have been shopping long enough that I don't think I will ever find a perfect used jetski. If I do find it, it will be overpriced anyway.

Anyone else have some insight on these two models?

Good choice, I think you'll enjoy it. Very fun machines and good wave jumpers.

Default Damn sandbars

I sucked sand!

I am going to completey service the jet pump unit.

Impeller suggestions? I have only heard of the Solas xprop and NuJet

What other areas needs to be checked for debris?
Someone mentioned water jackets can get filled up with sand. God, I hope not.

Also there is a bilge strainer somewhere.. Does that need to be cleaned? Will it affect performance?

My symptoms are stupidity, cavitation-no acceleration, and only reaches about 30mph.

I am going to turn this project into a service thread.
