Default 2008 fx sho fresh water inlet

Hi all This is my first post. Have just bought a fx sho and stoked so far however have an issue with the fresh water flush port that leaks every time I flush the motor at the "yamaha" connector end. Then I have to mop up the sump. The rubber "o" ring is OK. Is this common. Has anyone modified this connection to something more efficient to a thru hull connection or the like. Any advice welcome. I hate water in the bilge!

Very common complaint on all Yamaha 4 stroke models. That is one reason that Yamaha moved the connector to a point on the outside of the hull on the 2012 models. You can do that yourself with a little work and a few dollars worth of supplies. All you need is a 5/8" barbed nipple, some 5/8" hose, a couple of SS hose clamps, and a little silicone. Someone else gave me the idea off another forum, and I did it on my ski a couple of weeks ago. I can't seem to find the thread right now, but here is a photo of the finished product:

The other option is to get one of these flush extensions that are supposed to not leak (scroll down to "quick disconnect flush connector": YAMAHA FX HO / FX140
Kind of expensive at $50, but guys that have them say they do not leak.

Thanks Ernest T. That will do the trick for sure. Was originally thinking of a connection thru the transom aka newer seadoo models. with a one way valve set up. But that looks good. perhahaps would bring it out the rear near the bilge outlet. Cheers
