I have a 2004 FX140 and was at the storage for few month, as I was trying to turn on and my battery almost went dead when I try to use on of those jump start you buy on Costco I hear an click and the ski went dead completely. Now I put new battery and don't see anything working...must blow some fuse some where...Does any one know how to solve????
Thanks

The fuses are pretty easy to check. Look for a round knob on the front of the black electric box. Unscrew it and pull the fuses (there are only 3).

Be sure not to reverse the battery connections on this ski............that can fry the ECU............big $$$ to replace.

I would make sure your connections are clean and tight. A little corrosion can cause havoc. Make sure all of your grounds are clean.

There are only 3 functional fuses, the other 3 are spares. Be sure you are checking the right fuses, and not the spares. There should be a tool inside the cover to remove them.

Check connections as mentioned above. If it still won't start, most likely problem is the starter relay. You may have locked it with the jump start attempt.

Default Dead

Thanks for the info, I did not know we have spares there but I checked all of them. I am starting worry if I reverse the cables on the jump start attempt.
The ski is completly dead not even the display is working is it anything you suggest before I test the ecu? I do have another ski that I can take the ecu for a test.
Thanks

If its completely dead, no display lights, that is a bad sign. Yamaha does not recommend jumping the battery from a vehicle, because it can mess up the ECU (I don't know about one of the jump boxes, but I suspect it could also screw up the ECU) instead they recommend pulling a battery out of a car, etc., and using that for the jump.

Make sure you have a good battery first. It takes plenty of amps to crank the ski, and be sure its not locked if you have a model with the remote. With a known good battery hooked up try this: Right below the round cover where the fuses are there is a square cover. Remove the cover and the gasket under it. You will see 2 large leads. One if from the battery and the other is to the starter. They connect to the starter relay. With a pair of pliers, a wire, etc. jump (connect) the 2 large leads and see if the ski turns over. If it does, you have a bad starter relay and/or a blown ECU.
