Default Wave Venture Hard starting

My 1996 Wave Venture 1100 is very hard to start after it sits for a few days. The only way to get it going is to spray a shot of starting fluid in the intake. After that it runs fine and will start all day until it sits a few days then it's hard to start again. Question, when I pull the choke is it in fact a choke or is it a primer that needs to be pumped ( pulled in and out).
Thanks

Hard starting is often the first sign that you need to clean the carbs. If the carbs are good, you are probably right, that your choke is your primer. May be time to install a primer kit....they are pretty cheap and easy.

If the carbs were clean a primer kit would not be necessary. A primer kit adds either a plunger type knob or bulb similar to your lawn mower. It draws fuel from your tank and squirts it down the throat of the carb making it easy to start similar to using starting fluid. The choke should be more than sufficient to cold start your ski. The carbs must be dirty because when the choke plate is closed it increases velocity in the carb drawing out more fuel which richness the mixture to make starting easy. The extra fuel is not being drawn out so they must be dirty. Pull them off soak them in carb dip overnight and use a wire to clean out all the small holes and passages. I would order the carb kits to change all of the gaskets. Throw her back together and I'd bet it will start right up. I use primers on snowmobiles because the use a recoil rope and you get quite a workout if the motor decides to be cold hearted. I don't think it would be necessary to install one. If you dicide to throw one anyway I can give you a link for a thread where I installed one on my old Arctic Cat sled, it should give you a good idea what it would take. Hope this helps.

I'm guessing that ski has one carb = single kit, but if not, you will need the triple kit (a line for each carb).

Like 98y0ta said, I'd clean the carb(s) first, or you may be wasting money.
