Default Trim stuck

My Manual Trim has been stuck on my 2002 FX140, I really never used it that much, but I would love to get it unstuck now.
I have taken the handle area apart and it looked fine. and inside the ski it seems ok also. I really hate to pay someone to hit it with a hammer or something stupid.

Anyone have any experience get them unstuck before?

Thanks

The cables are corroded inside the housing. Since you already have the handle off the first thing I'd try is get a 2 screw cable luber and try to force some penetrating oil into the cable housing: Yamaha Cable Luber Deluxe At Parker Yamaha Com

Let the oil set for a day and repeat the process a couple of times, trying to work the trim each time. You also might try putting some in from the back end where the cables come through the transom.

It depends on how badly they are corroded as to whether this will work, but I've seen them free up more often than not. If this doesn't work, you can try and strip down the system further to see if you can break it free. This guide may help (scroll down): http://www.fullwavemarine.com/TIPS%2...AHA%20PWC.html. If all else fails your only option is to replace the cables.

Once you get them free, make it a habit to run the trim back and forth a few times every time you ride the ski, and lube the cables with the luber as part of the winterization process.

Thanks Ernest, does that clamp pierce the outside of the cable with some teeth or soemthing to get the oil in? and what kind of oil do I use? where to get it etc? I can try this, but the procedure on that website looks like more than I would normaly get myself in to, because I am pretty good as messing crap like that up.

You just tighten the cable luber around the cable housing. Then there is a little hole in the end of the luber that you insert the tube that will come with the penetrating oil. Then cover the whole thing with a rag (because you always get lots of excess oil spraying out all over the place). The luber helps direct the oil between the cable and the housing, but its not a perfect process. That is why I recommend the 2 screw type of luber.........they give you a better seal than the 1 screw lubers. If you get lots of over-spray, try repositioning the luber up or down on the housing to find the best seal. Here is a guide that may help explain it better, since a photo is worth lots of my words: http://www.scootertherapy.com/clubepage.html

As for penetrating oil, I'd just get whatever is on hand at the local auto parts store: lots of guys like PB Blaster, but Liquid Wrench, or other brands probably work just as well.
