Default 07 Yamaha VX Deluxe (more speed?)

Looking to get more speed, does anybody know of anything to get more speed out of the VX Deluxe?? Besides changing the plugs and running super gasoline. The top speed lately has been 40, about 43 on a good day.
Thanks

Where are you getting your speeds from? GPS or speedo? That machine should do 52 mph stock, 43 sounds low

There is the Riva kit but it only adds 3 mph.

RIVA Racing Yamaha VX110 RPM Kit

The VX is an entry level/rental machine designed to provide excellent fuel economy and reliability. If you want to go fast I would not even waste your time and just sell it and get a performance machine.

Is your L-mode lamp on while driving, cause a speed of 40 mph is max speed while in learn mode. Use your remote and hold unlock button till you here 2 beeps to regain normal operation if that's the case.
Also check for too much oil in the engine, only check it after engine hot and right away after you stop. I f you find that it has too much, you will have to remove and replace the oil and the air filter as it will haqve become saturated with oil. even at 10% saturation performance will be reduced. So if it doesn't look that bad change it anyways cause there shouldn't be any signs of oil in the air filter housing.......hope this helps

It can be done but why not just buy a performance filter from R&D, its cheaper than stock and reusable.
I wouldn't want to run mine all the time with out one.

If the air filter has oil on it that means your oil tank is overfilled...........check the level with the engine HOT, never cold.

Personally, I would never run without an air filter. Its not worth the additional 1MPH (if you'll even get that. Look at a used filter and you'll see all the junk that would have been sucked into the engine.

If you didn't have the filter on, it would have taken oil in too. I'd fix the oil problem, put a new filter on, and be done with it.

If you aren't on L-mode, you should break 50MPH. I agree with YamaDoo - If 50 MPH is too slow for you, get another machine.
