Default Newbie, please help, rpm runaway issue

we went out last week and the throttle began to stick after a long ride (bushings where found to be expanding and binding throttle shaft after removal of carbs and heating them up) I am pretty well mechanically inclined but am just at a loss on this issue.

Here goes...
ok, carbs were taken off, throttle shafts trimmed and were in a good operating range. The ski starts up with choke, idles with choke out, and when the choke is pushed in it idles for a few seconds and the rpms begin to runaway, and yes its on water when i start it. When i pull the lanyard for the kill switch it runs for a fews seconds rpms pegged. I have read up that this is caused by an air leak, i put a new sbt gasket on it but didnt put any silicone sealant around it, the old gasket was in good shape when it came off and had gasket sealant on it when it was removed. could i be getting air in through the carb rack and manifold where the new gasket was installed?...should i apply silicone gasket maker/ sealer?...could the adjustment of throttle cables cause this?, i made sure they were adjusted where the throttle butterflies where oriented in the right manner with no slack in the throttle and choke cables(not sure if a little slack is required).....im crazy confused here, lol

Certainly sounds like a carb problem or air leak. If the carbs have been gone through, then I think you have to pull the engine and do a leak down test. No way to know where you are getting air.

looks that way dont it, although you havnt provided much info either other than ' Newbie, please help, rpm runaway issue '

since this is posted in the yamaha jetski section ill assume its a yamaha jetski, as so rpm runaway is caused by ' Lean conditions '

and silicone should not be used on a 2 stroke engine.

no info?, if you would read the post you would have an idea of what was done...also while i worked on the carb i installed the oil block off kit. I know what the cause is i was just hopeful that having listed what was done that someone might be able to pinpoint a few possibilities as to where the issue is without telling me its a 'lean condition'. As for what i might have left out, its a 2000 xl800 with 48 original hours, carbs rebuilt by yamaha via previous owner (2nd owner).

forget it bro, ill either figure it out myself/wait for someone to be helpful/or take it to yamaha. Ive been on way way too many car forums to play into salty members...the year and model had just recently been posted per your request and you still respond back in an uncalled for manner. So i respectfully ask you to please avoid this thread and i will get my issue ironed out.

well after having the carbs off three times, and reinstalling i noticed that the fuel lines are dry...so im assuming no fuel + air intake is what = my lean condition, the ski is going to yamaha today because i have no clue why fuel is not circulating the system.
